The world was created and the Creator is not
restrained in any way by time or space. The creatures have seen the past and
are experiencing the present but the future remains non-existent for them. But
for the Creator, the whole universe from beginning to end was seen in a single
stroke. This is why when I hear people use the phrase ‘God’s
time’, I wonder if God is really time conscious. The truth is: God does not
have any need for time. God is just timeless. Time is only meant for the
creatures and not for the Creator. God doesn’t even see history as a
progression of years, decades and centuries but as a single snapshot. He
captures your entire life in just a single glance. He views your birth and
burial in one frame.
Before the first couple, Adam and Eve, bought into the deceit
of Satan and ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, there was
no need to print calendar or wear watches or create cemeteries. Until man
disobeyed God, he was already dwelling in a timeless world constantly fellowshipping
with a timeless Father. Because of his disobedience God declared, "The man
has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to
reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live
forever."
Adam’s sin brought death and deadlines into the
world. Since that incidence of disobedience in the Garden of Eden, Life has
been timed. Nevertheless, great people still see time as an opportunity and not
a threat.
Why take the precious opportunity
of time for granted? I wish you really knew that Time is the most valuable resource on earth. Yea, Time is a great
asset; the most prized thing anyone can have. It is what you even need most,
second to God, to develop your abilities/talents through the spirit of
excellence to become great. It is perishable, it is irreplaceable, and it
cannot be stored. Time is simply powerful, and you can only be powerful with time, not against it. If you attempt ‘killing time’s like most people try to
do; you are only committing suicide gradually.
I like this lesson from Karma: “When a bird is
alive, it eats ants…When the bird is dead, ants eat the bird. Time and
circumstances can change anything at any time. Don’t devalue or hurt anyone in
life. You may be powerful today, but remember…Time is more powerful than
you.” All opportunities are timed. Life
is not a joke, it is the greatest opportunity you have. Everything in life is timed;
even Life itself is timed. Every day, God credits your account with 86,400
seconds. Use them or lose them forever. Before you spend another five (5) hours
on Facebook today, think about what you could do with that precious time that
would be lost forever.
Do you sometimes wonder why few people succeed in
their pursuit of personal fulfillment and others fail miserably? It is simply
because the successful people took advantage of the time that the unsuccessful
people took for granted. The difference is that successful people utilize time
in a more effective manner than unsuccessful people. The successful people prioritize activities
and apportion time on the basis of importance and purpose. They schedule their
priorities and prioritize their schedule. Time can neither be created nor
wasted, it can only be reallocated from activities of lower value to activities
of higher value since all work and accomplishments require time.
Time is the scale of life. In fact, life means time
and time means life. Anyone who doesn’t value time doesn’t value life. God has
given us this wonderful time to live happily and maximize the grand opportunity
of life and not to brood over failures. Time is absolutely necessary to worship
the Creator, to develop important relationships in life, to pursue excellence
and to fully utilize your God-given abilities and talents. Time measures it
all. Life without time-consciousness
holds no value for anyone.
We all step out of the womb in time, grow in time,
live in time and ultimately fall in the grave in time. The journey of life
starts right from the cradle and end at the coffin. The golden opportunity of
life begins from the womb and ends in the tomb. There may not be an exact
definition of time, but we all know what it is and now understands its great
value in human life.
A man has a lot of wants. We all want fame, success,
money, happiness, love, relationship etc. There is no end to our desires.
However, only a few are successful, prosperous and happy. Why? These few are
the ones who realized the value of time. They made the best use of their time
and attained an enviable position in society. People who made effective use of
time at their disposal got the best from time. You cannot waste time, you can
only waste your opportunity of life through time. It is because of time that
opportunity comes but once. If you’re fortunate enough, you might have another
similar opportunity but it can never be exactly the same opportunity because
the clock and the calendar will remind you that the time has changed.
There has never been so much demand on man’s time
than now; in this generation. Log on to Facebook and you’ll understand what I
mean by ‘demand on our time.’ If you are using Whatsapp on your phone, you can
agree with the phrase ‘demand on our time.’ Today, so many things are competing
for our time and attention than they did with our forefathers’. Only those who
understand this and know exactly what they want from life can do the best to
maximize their limited opportunity of time. Great people master their time;
ordinary people allow their time to master them.
The noblest thing about Time is that it never
forgets you though you may tend to forget it. Time has a way of giving you the
result of what you put into it. If you use it in a wise manner it gives you
happiness otherwise it leaves you empty because you left it empty.
It is told that after Michelangelo
the great artist died, someone found in his studio a piece of paper on which he
had written a note to his apprentice, Antonio. In the handwriting of his old
age Michelangelo wrote: “Draw, Antonio, draw, and do not waste time. You still
want to become great, then, do not waste time.” Just a year from now, you may
wish you had started today. So start today. Time is for you, not God’s.
Aren’t you disturbed by the
question ‘How old are you” when some wants to know your age? People rarely ask,
“How young are you” if they want to know your age because they are already
aware that every passing day is pushing you far from your mother’s womb and dragging
you closer to your tomb. So, what are you going to do with the time you have
left? How much time do you have left in the first place? I know you don’t know
the answer – and this is the part on the stage of life that saddens our heart -
you have no idea when the curtain will fall! My only advice to you is: play
your role well until your time is up. Make sure to enjoy your life, but remember it has an expiration date.
Let’s sum it up here: becoming Great depends on the
God you know, the relationships you’ve built or can build, doing your work well
(with excellence), putting your abilities/talents to maximum good use and being
time-conscious in everything you do. Therefore we can conclude that, GREATness equals the God we serve plus the relationships we build plus excellence we demonstrate plus abilities we maximized plus our time-consciousness. God has given you
everything you need to be great. He knows precisely the kind of talents,
connections, and opportunities around us and when you can make things happen.
